Humidty and epoxy

We're two days behind.

Because of the rain, the humidity is such that it could reek havoc on curing epoxy. Rather than risk it, yesterday and today go down under "nothing accomplished".

The time led me to ponder about working indoors vs outdoors.
Air-conditioning would have chopped days off of this project. The heat has been dangerous and by noon, if you don't have shade you can get yourself into serious trouble. Not simply just heat exhaustion, but you can go into acute renal failure.

I've seen it. You'd rather not have that hospital bill.

Theoretically, air-conditioning would have dried the air and I could have resumed work. But lets think realistically. The little shed in the backyard is so poorly insulated, I doubt it'd ever get comfortable in there. As the shed is, if enough space was provided to work in, I might still not be able to work these past few days anyway. You could cut the air with a knife. And I wouldn't have a breeze.

Outdoors, while the heat and sunshine can bring your day to an early end, if you get out there in the morning and stay in the shade, it's actually kind of nice. You have a nice breeze and better lighting than man can provide. Being outdoors is simply good for the soul. It refreshes your spirit. Think about how alive you feel when outside on a crisp spring day. I remember days like that and the feeling was felt by all animals. The dog runs extra laps in the yard with an expression of pure joy indescribable by words. The horses would throw their heads and kick out their heels, then gallop across the pasture.

Anyway, enough brainless pondering. I've got a few other things to do while waiting for the air to dry. I need to trim the backings for the fiberglass and wrap them in plastic to prevent them from soaking up epoxy, which is more time consuming than actually laying down the fiberglass cloth.

Tomorrow construction should be able to resume. In the grand scheme of things, two days behind isn't terrible. This boat hasn't seen the lake in years. She probably gave up on the notion of ever returning.
With repairs being done, maybe...just maybe she's begun to dream about the lake once again.

You see what a dork I become with some free time on my hands?

The quote following is a Chinese proverb. I try and keep it in mind when feeling impatient and to remind me that all things, be them little projects, or even large projects such as our lives-it's not necessarily the end that's important:

"The journey is the reward"

Are you taking the time to enjoy the journey?
